PENTIRE POINT
Gareth Jones is a painter living and working in Newbury. He is inspired to paint by the beauty and drama of the Cornish coast. Some work is plein air, but the majority is done in the studio using a combination of reference photographs, videos, sketches and imagination, typically working in either oils or acrylics on board or canvas.
He finds the whole creative process endlessly fascinating and absorbing. Gareth is ever-so slightly obsessed with trying to represent the coast of Cornwall in paint, and he is always trying to capture the drama and energy of the Cornish seascape. He believes that the landscape is more than just the physical form, it is also the air and the light that gives it real life, and he tries to bring that feeling & emotion to his paintings.
He has work displayed at Galleries & Exhibitions in London, Cambridge, Wales and locally. He is a member of Reading Guild of Artists, is an accredited Artist to Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire and is part of the ‘THAT Gallery’ artist collective.
