Rosemary Derwent

Rosemary was a guest artist, taking part in the West Berkshire and North Hampshire Open Studios event in 2023. She finds herself fascinated by the colours and shapes, particularly the hibiscus bushes and the many insects (including red shield bugs and butterflies) they encourage.

Rosemary has been busily drawing and painting this past year, with inspiration from the flowers and vines in her French garden drawing and sometimes drawing on linens and adding machine embroidery.

She has also been trying to echo leaves in her printmaking, mainly to practise pattern making and has recently been concentrating on backgrounds.
