ABOUT
The history of our humble little art collective.
Founded in 2018 by Jackie Denham & Llinos Gale, "7Artists" originally consisted of 7 exhibiting artists, including Jackie Denham, Llinos Gale & Sue Crook, for Hampshire Open Studios 2018. This inaugural 7A exhibition was held at Viables Craft Centre.
Expanding its number in 2019, the collective was renamed to "7Artists+" and a new venue at Proteus Creation Space was chosen to house the larger number of creative spirits and provide more space for artists to offer exciting workshops and hands-on creativity to visitors.
Resident artists at 7A+ liaise with the wider Hampshire and Berkshire art communities to bring together a changing membership of multi-disciplined, talented local artists for exhibitions; this revolving membership brings guest artists with new works & displays to each event.
7A+ routinely participates in Open Studio's West Berkshire and North Hampshire, and Hampshire Open Studio's events, bringing together a wide and eclectic mix of creative souls.

COLLABORATIONS
Organisations we work with to promote creativity.
Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire was set up in 1988 by the late Pat Eastop MBE as a non-profit organisation, run entirely by unpaid volunteers, to celebrate the diversity of visual arts available within the local community. We strive to create a dialogue between artists and the community by encouraging members of the public to visit artists’ studios.
7Artists+ hosts an annual exhibition at the Proteus Creation Space and takes part in the Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire Insight exhibition at the base in Greenham.

FAQ
Bringing clarity is our aim.
Q:
When are you showcasing your work?
A:
We take part in various events each year, including Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire, and Hampshire Open Studios. To find out more about what events we have planned, head on over to the exhibitions page.
-
Q:
Are your events free to enter?
A:
Generally, all our exhibitions are free to enter, and open to everyone. There may be unique events that require ticketing but that will be specified in the event. Workshops are paid events, which can only be entered by those who have tickets (see our workshop page for details).
-
Q:
Does Proteus Creation Space have parking?
A:
Yes, it has plenty of onsite parking to allow guests to come and go at their leisure. Sometimes it might get busier than others, however, so we can't guarantee you will get a parking spot on site. On arrival you will need to enter your car registration on the terminal in the Proteus Creation Space foyer, to avoid parking charges. Outside of that, there are other parking options nearby in Basingstoke.
-
Q:
Do you sell artwork?
A:
If you are interested in a piece of artwork seen on the website, the best thing to do is contact the artist directly (through their social or website) or contact us through the email form and we can get in contact with them on your behalf.
-
Q:
Do you take commissions?
A:
This will be determined by the artist in question. You will need to get in contact with the specific artist via their website or social and find out. If you are finding that difficult, contact us via our email form and we can see about getting in contact with them.
-
Q:
What are OSWBNH and HOS?
A:
Both of these are abbreviations for art organisations we take part in yearly. In this case OSWBNH stands for Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire, and HOS stands for Hampshire Open Studios. If you would like to find out more about these art organisations you can find out more on our collaborations page and in the artist portfolios.
-
Q:
My question is not answered!
A:
We try to cover all the general questions, but if there is something specific you need answering, head on over to our contact page (or click below) and complete the email form. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
